We can all remember those days the society used to tell us that education is the key to success! The expectations of anyone who went through the country’s best schools and qualified with best grades is to secure a good job and have a dream come true lifestyle.
However, this is not the case for many youths following the latest revelation by a famous media house.
Kenyans have been left in utter shock after the plight of a brainy First-Class graduate who is yet to unlock the doors to his successful life was aired on Sunday night.
The heartwrenching news on Kelvin Ochieng showed how years of hard work and excellent academic grades turned ‘useless’ for the young man who has ended up homeless on Nairobi’s streets for over a year.
Kevin Ochieng’ scored straight As from Maranda and First Class at the University but he is jobless and homeless. @RailaOdinga is a billionaire who controls Siaya and other counties. He should help Ochieng’ find employment instead following Uhuru around like a bodyguard. https://t.co/J1brQsca3x

The genius is a First-Class Honours graduate in Actuarial Science from the University of Nairobi and fate has served him ill luck.
Many people touched by this story poked holes in the Kenyan failed education system and corruption, where the youth are not accorded opportunities in today’s market even the Government has failed her people.
Kevin who scored straight A’s at Maranda High School is an indicator that millions of similar cases are outside there.
Currently, he works alongside parking gangs at the city CBD washing cars for Ksh.50-100 to earn a living and pleaded for well-wishers to offer him a decent job.
Here are some reactions from Kenyans:
When I saw Actuarial Science trending, I thought maybe some jobs on the same course are now available. I have the same degree (second upper) but getting a job has just been in my dreams for four years. God help us! I wish Kelvin the best.#FirstClassBetrayal

A country where a first class honors graduate will be jobless & frustrated but a primary school dropout can be appointed a Cabinet Secretary because of political connections.
But it’s the graduate who should be a plumber because jobs are given based on merit. #FirstClassBetrayal

Going to the University isn’t making it in life, it is just and educational level! Education is no longer the key, the locks were changed long ago. #FirstClassBetrayal

The BoyChild Movement is all about brotherhood and reaching out to brothers in distress. Jeff Koinange should disband the Boys Club if they can’t support the BoyChild agenda.
Shame on Citizen TV for airing the documentary for clout.#FirstClassBetrayal pic.twitter.com/ynlXqN1C9q

Education used to be the key until when corruption in the name of connections changed everything…you even need a connection to secure an industrial attachment, something you do for free without getting paid!! What about employment?— Assassin T (@KaraniTroy) July 22, 2019
When graduates sleep in the streets for years surviving on menual jobs in the city but inspirational speakers insisting on education being a key to success in a country where top jobs are given to the likes of Echesas and Rashidis.#FirstClassBetrayal#shahadayamateso#kaman pic.twitter.com/DGr9Rprvgn

We unajua actuarial science ni nini ama unadhani ni science of acting? The guy has never missed a beat from primary school..the guy would have moped the floor with you in any skill had he known the system would fail him. Ebu Tunyamazie na iyo cert yako ya ICM #ShahadayaMateso

Scoring an A in this country is a ticket to suffering. I hate scoring this grade. After the struggle you end reaping what you didn’t sow. I am hurting.. #ShahadaYaMateso pic.twitter.com/DhRHWKO8FX
