Degree of Doom? Kenyans pity jobless First-Class graduate languishing in poverty

We can all remember those days the society used to tell us that education is the key to success! The expectations of anyone who went through the country’s best schools and qualified with best grades is to secure a good job and have a dream come true lifestyle.

However, this is not the case for many youths following the latest revelation by a famous media house.  

 

Kenyans have been left in utter shock after the plight of a brainy First-Class graduate who is yet to unlock the doors to his successful life was aired on Sunday night.

The heartwrenching news on Kelvin Ochieng showed how years of hard work and excellent academic grades turned ‘useless’ for the young man who has ended up homeless on Nairobi’s streets for over a year.

The genius is a First-Class Honours graduate in Actuarial Science from the University of Nairobi and fate has served him ill luck.

Many people touched by this story poked holes in the Kenyan failed education system and corruption, where the youth are not accorded opportunities in today’s market even the Government has failed her people.

Kevin who scored straight A’s at Maranda High School is an indicator that millions of similar cases are outside there. 

Currently, he works alongside parking gangs at the city CBD washing cars for Ksh.50-100 to earn a living and pleaded for well-wishers to offer him a decent job.
