Poor menstrual hygiene caused by a lack of education on the issue, persisting taboos and stigma, limited access to hygienic menstrual products like pads undermines the educational opportunities, health and overall social status of women and girls around the world.
As a result, millions of women and girls are kept from reaching their full potential.
May being the month of menstrual hygiene awareness, saw a fan proposing that government to provide pads to girls free just like condoms.
The idea was massively supported by online members who weighed in with various opinion.
I was at a shop this weekend when a lady ( obviously older than me) walked in and asked for the price of pad and when told she was shocked and started pricing it down and after been turned down she asked 'do u sell half'. I almost cried… Had to pay for it. Pads should be free!

We eat everyday yet food is not FREE
We drink everyday yet water is not FREE.Truth be said the pursuit of free sanitary pad is a wild goose chase and I proffer your focus be be directed towards getting these pads at a subsidized rate
Iām actually going to support u with this cause pads are quite expensive for d young to afford bt its not the companies busy tho, if only we ave good govt then they probably could come in to this, like schools having it in store for students for free, well am just saying tho š

If people used the free condoms, just maybe the government will be able to afford free pads. pic.twitter.com/N4iSR87Onp

Free? Quick question: what happens to the company producing it, in terms of paying salaries to people working there? If you say they should make it at a reasonable price, I couldn't agree more, so families with 5/6 girls can afford.

It's funny how you guys think condoms are free. 1. The condoms being distributed freely are of low quality. 2. There're people out there paying for the production cost. So, it's really not free.

However, the government, politicians and NGOs have been in the forefront to provide pads to school going girls but challenges rocks the process.
Do you support govt should offer sanitary towels for free?
