PS Reveals How Ruto Will Bypass Court Over Haiti Deployment; Anxiety as CJ Koome Vows to Challenge High Court’s Powers on Petitions & Missing Policewoman Found Dead, Decomposing in Her House

Good morning,

Today, Tuesday, February 6, is the last day by which all national school principals are supposed to share their institution’s bank account details with the State Department’s Director General office after the government directed parents to pay fees for their children through the online platform, eCitizen.

According to Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, this move is meant to enhance accountability and transparency. The ministry further directed school heads to quit charging extra levies to parents outside authorized fees.

However, the plan has been met with resistance from a section of parents and the opposition.

On Monday, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, during a rally in Kajiado County, said the change was an unnecessary burden to parents and students.

“When you ask parents to pay school fees through e-Citizen, how will a parent living in a rural set-up manage to do so?” he asked.

Do you think the new payment system will streamline fee payments and enhance accountability? Or is it an unnecessary burden to parents and students?
