Azimio’s New Demands That Will Cause Problems in The Ongoing Bipartisan Talks; Judy Jepchirchir, Untouchable Employment Agency Boss at The Centre of Job Scandals & Gachagua Slams Azimio-Kenya Kwanza Talks, Exposes Ruto-Raila Meeting Details

Good morning,

Teachers have rejected a plan by their employer to increase their salary between 2.5% to 9% after they failed to agree on the review of their salaries.

The plan by their employer-Teachers Service Commission(TSC)- could have seen the lowest-paid teacher in job group B5 raise his /her basic minimum salary by Ksh 1037 from the current Ksh 21 756 to Ksh 22,793 in the first year and to 23, 830 by July 2024.

Talks hit a dead end on August 22, 2023, after union officials refused to sign an agreement prepared by TSC.

The teachers were represented by the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut), Kenya Union of Post-Primary Education Teachers (Kuppet) and Kenya Union of Special Needs Education Teachers (Kusnet)  who accused TSC of deceit saying the offer was below the 7-10 per cent proposed by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission(SRC) for all civil servants, security forces and teachers.

What do you think of the recent plans by the Union officials to reject the minimum salary pay increase?
