The weekend is finally upon us after seven days of sheer surprise, craziness, and outright blame games in the political arena.
Politicians seem to have activated the campaign mood as more and more ‘rallies’ are emerging.
As we anticipate what will happen in the coming week, we look at the stories that captured our attention in the past seven days:
Eliud Kipchoge Dethroned
Kenyan Marathoner Eliud Kipchoge for the first time failed to clinch the win at the London marathon.
Kenyans were left shell-shocked and a bit disappointed after the legendary athlete finished eighth in a race he had always dominated in the past.
The country had hoped that Vincent Kipchumba would lessen the Kipchoge pain by clinching the race ahead of Ethiopian competitor Shura Kitata, but also fell short.
Call for MP Nyoro and Wahome’s Arrest
Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and Kandara MP Alice Wahome found themselves in trouble after Police IG Hilary Mutyambai called for them to be apprehended.
It was claimed that the two leaders were behind the chaos that rocked Murang’a leaving two civilians dead.
The chaos erupted hours to Deputy President William Ruto’s visit to the area.
Ruto Forced to Postpone Meeting
It was a tough week for the second in command after he was forced to push his meeting to a different date.
Ruto resorted to the move after police officers disbanded his meeting in Nyamira.
Drama ensued in the area after the authorities resorted to the usage of tear gas to disperse the crowd that had gathered to meet the DP.
The former URP man condemned the act and promised his supporters that the event will be held the coming week.
Samido- Karen Nyamu ‘Affair’
Kikuyu Musician Samidoh found himself in the spotlight after affair rumors emerged.
It was alleged that the musician had impregnated his friend Karen Nyamu.
Information leaked pointed out that the controversial politician could be carrying Samidoh’s baby yet the musician is a married man.
The artist, however, came out and disregarded the news proclaiming that he and Karen are just friends.
Uhuru Roped Into Murang’a Chaos
Details emerged that President Uhuru Kenyatta’s office played a part in the drama that was witnessed in the small town of Kenol, Murang’a.
It was alleged that orders were given for the police to stay clear from the event where DP Ruto was to attend.
Further reports claimed that the sub-county police commissioner of the region was directed to avoid the event and even was sent on leave.
Gatundu North MP Loses Her Seat
Gatundu North lawmaker Anne Wanjiru found herself in trouble after a Nairobi court stripped her of her seat.
The position was declared vacant after Justice Weldon Korir deemed that Wanjiku had violated the law.
According to Korir the MP at the time of being elected as the legislator of the area was still an MCA.
