Fact Check: Did MCA Cyrus Omondi Die After Sex With Prostitute?

Exactly a week after Kahawa Wendani Ward Representative Cyrus Omondi died, a viral video of a man who passed on after having sex with a sex worker has emerged on social media with various people linking it to the death of the MCA.

The video, which clearly shows the body of a man with Omondi stature lying on the bed, was circulated across various social media platforms with some claiming the deceased had passed on after sleeping with the prostitute.

However, we can authoritatively report that the video is fake and had no connection with the death of Omondi.

In the recording, a girl dressed in a yellow top and blue pants is captured narrating how she went intimate with the man who was in the company of his friends- but forced him to use protection.

“I am a prostitute and I serve my customers, my friend called me and I joined them. They ordered food we ate and slept,” the lady is captured narrating in a Nigerian accent.

“At some point, we went intimate but I insisted that we must use protection and I gave him the condoms that I was carrying,” she further states.

In the third minute of the video, the person capturing the clip then focuses it on the man whose lifeless body is lying on his bed covered with a white blanket.

Sadly, the people in the room then confirm that the man is familiar and even known to some of them.

The person behind the camera then again turns his focus on a number of red-pill tablets that are hidden inside a black bag.

Here is the video;

Such a drug is Meinnah- which is used to treat male sexual problems (impotence or erectile dysfunction-ED). In combination with sexual stimulation, it works by increasing blood flow to the penis to help a man attain and sustain an erection.

This reporter counted over 20 tablets that were inside the bag and most also seemed already consumed.

The lady further narrates that she realized something was not right when she tried to wake the man up to demand her pay only for him to remain silent.

“We made love at 5AM and he again fell asleep, I later tried to wake him up but he did not respond, that is when I called the attendant who was at the reception,” the lady who looks disturbed narrates.

Asked if she was aware that the man had taken the pills, the lady totally denies saying that she was not even aware that he the pills with him.

Investigations by Opera News indicates the video was taken in Nigeria and a Facebook user, Ena Ofugara, identified the man who passed on as Sir Eric Agboegbulem.

In a detailed Facebook post on the matter, the user starts by accusing the police of releasing the video with the aim of “stopping the family of the deceased from prosecuting the girl for murder.”

He describes the man “as a person who travels a lot” and that his wife is a Senior Director in Central Bank of Nigeria.

“Her family is well known in their town. She lives in Abuja while the husband practised and lived in Benin, and hails from Agbor Delta State, often joining her for weekends,” part of Mr Ogufara’s post reads in part.

He further claimed that the man suffering from hypertension and was on medication.

Mr Ogufara went further to fault the police for opening his bag and taking out the drugs that he was carrying.

He further asks those making statements on the matter to mind about the family and in addition, let them mourn in peace.

Mr Omondi (Kahawa Wendani MCA) died on February 12, 2020, and his family has maintained that they suspect foul play in his death.

In a statement last week, Mr Stephen Odhiambo, his younger brother, said that his brother did not have a history of heart-related diseases and that the allegations he succumbed to a heart attack should be subjected to a probe.
