Manchester United have reportedly contacted AC Milan over the possibility of signing striker Krzysztof Piatek as cover injured Marcus Rashford.
The Polish striker has fallen down the pecking order since Zlatan Ibrahimovic returned to the club and is desperate for a move after being replaced by the Swede who has scored one goal in the three appearances he has made for the club.
United now has to add firepower to the team. Even before Rashford’s injury setback a week ago, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had admitted that his side needs to sign a striker. They were linked with a move for Erling Haaland but the Norwegian forward snubbed the Red Devils for Borussia Dortmund.
Moussa Dembele of Olympic Lyon, Luka Jovic of Real Madrid, Barcelona’s Ousmane Dembele are some of the forwards linked with a move to Old Trafford this January as the Norwegian coach looks to beef up his forward line following the departure of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to Inter Milan in the summer.
Joining United’s wish-list is Piatek. The striker who was in hot form for Genoa last season before migrating to Milan in mid-season has grown frustrated at the San Siro and now wants out.
United are said to be keen on a loan deal which could be made permanent in the summer. Tottenham too is monitoring the striker.
