Moses Kuria Lauds One Court Order In Sonko Case

Gatundu South Member of Parliament(MP) Moses Kuria on Wednesday lauded one court order issued during a bail ruling of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and his co-accused.

The controversial MP took to his social media account to point out the order and tore into the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Kuria said the directive by the court to bar any parties from discussing the matter on social media and in press conferences was an end of the road for the DPP who was used to such moves.

“Great directions especially on DPP. The arena should only be the courtroom, not press conferences or social media,” wrote Kuria on Facebook.

The developments come days after the DPP Noordin Haji was severely criticised for issuing stern remarks prior to the arrest of Governor Sonko in a press conference.

Leaders including ODM leader Raila Odinga also condemned the manner in which Governor Sonko was arrested while others defended the Nairobi boss saying he was still innocent until proven guilty.

The dramatic arrest of the Governor, according to his defence team, left him nursing injuries leading to his admission at Kenyatta Nationa Hospital (KNH).

The Governor was arrested on Friday over corruption allegations where he was accused of plundering hundreds of millions belonging to the City-County.

Sonko, however, on Monday denied 19 counts of charges preferred against him.

On Wednesday, after spending two nights in Kamiti Maximum Prison, the Governor was freed on Ksh15 million or Ksh30 million bond.

Sonko was however barred from accessing his office thus throwing the City-County into a leadership crisis.
