Ruto Ready for PM Post, I Lost 3 Children in Pokot Floods & Raila to Unveil 2022 Road Map

Good morning,

There is really nothing good about a chilly Monday morning. Catastrophic rains continue to pound several parts of the country with more than 50 people confirmed dead after a landslide that swept away a village in Pokot South on Friday night.

Rescue operations have been hampered by the fact that the remote village of Parua is inaccessible after a local bridge broke down. The Kapenguria County Referral Hospital does not have the capacity to accommodate all the recovered bodies.

The situation might get worse bearing in mind that the rains will not stop any time soon. But didn’t the weatherman warn about this? How long will we wait for a crisis to happen before we act?

Back in the capital, Nairobians are dealing with the problem of raw sewage in the estates after the heavy downpour destroyed sewer lines. Governor Mike Sonko, is nowhere to be seen as the Ethics and Anti-corruption Commission (EACC) narrows down on him over alleged past sins.

Apparently, Sonko is a jailbreak. He mysteriously disappeared from Kamiti Prisons in 2000. A few months ago, a local daily reported that the governor had claimed in court papers that he suffered from a terminal illness. Anyway, EACC wants Sonko to go back to Kamiti and complete his sentence.

The question is why now? Why has it taken the EACC more than 20 years to narrow down on Sonko? Does this smell like a political witch-hunt?
