AFC Leopards, who were the hosts at Mumias Sports Complex, compounded Chemelil Sugar’s woes with a 4-0 whipping courtesy of Soter Kayumba, John Makwata and Tresor Ndikumana. Makwatta grabbed a brace.
Speaking after the match, Baraza told Opera News that the league has just started and that Chemelil Sugar fans should expect some fireworks when the club meets Kariobangi Sharks in their next game which is slated for October 5, at the same venue (Mumias Sports Complex).
“We know that the matches have not gone our way so far but we still believe that we will soon start winning matches. It is unfortunate that we lost heavily to AFC Leopards today (Sunday) plus the two previous matches.
“All in all, we’re going back to training with a mind-set of rectifying the noted mistakes from this match and the other matches. Hopefully, we can register a positive result against Kariobangi Sharks in our next match,” he said.
So far, Chemelil Sugar are placed at the basement of the 18-team Kenyan Premier League table. Their next opponents Kariobangi Sharks have collected three points from four matches and are placed on the 15th spot of the table.
Western Stima, AFC Leopards, Kakamega Homeboyz and Ulinzi Stars occupy the first, second, third and fourth positions in that order.
