CECAFA U20: Kenya Demolish Ethiopia 4-0 to Book Quarter Final Slot

The Kenya Under 20 team finished their Group Matches at the ongoing CECAFA under 20 championships with a comfortable 4-0 win over Ethiopia, booking a slot in the quarter finals.

The result means that Stanely Okumbi’s boys ended the group stages unbeaten having beaten Zanzibar and drawn with Tanzania in the first two matches.

Ethiopia resisted sustained pressure from Kenya but eventually gave in in the final minute of the first half allowing Steven Otieno to poke home the first goal and settle the nerves that had begun to build in the Kenyan ranks.

AFC Leopards attacking midfielder made it three goals in 3 matches when he blasted home the ball from close range for Kenya’s second of the match in the 68th minute. Odhiambo also found the net against Zanzibar and opened the scoringin the 2-2 draw with Tanzania.

Second-half substitute John Collins Njuna scored Kenya’s third 7 minutes later to put the result beyond doubt. Western Stima’s Benson Ochieng added gloss to the victory with the fourth goal in the 84th minute.

The team will now advance to the quarter-finals of the competition having scored 7 points in the group stage.
