Kenyan mobile network operator Safaricom has been ranked as the overall best employer in Kenya.
According to a survey by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), the telecommunication company emerged the top after averaging the best score in the eight thematic areas of assessment.
The thematic areas analysed by the survey include Leadership and Governance, Responsible Business Conduct, Inclusiveness and Diversity, Learning and Development, Effective HR Practices and Industrial Relations, Corporate Performance, Innovation and Productivity and Workplace Environment.
Safaricom emerged the overall winners of two thematic areas among them Effective HR Practices and Industrial Relations and Inclusiveness and Diversity.
Also, Centum Investment Company Ltd was bagged two thematic areas dubbed Leadership and Governance and Workplace Environment.
In addition, East African Breweries Ltd company was also the best in two categories; Corporate Performance and Learning and Development.
In terms of Innovation and Productivity, Crown Paints Kenya Plc took the lead followed by Safaricom.
Even at the times where industries are on spot for environmental pollution, Tata Chemicals Magadi Limited (TCML) beat top companies in Responsible Business Conduct category.
The survey was conducted online from 23 May 2019 to 31 July 2019.
Workplace environment was weighted at 15 per cent, HR practices at 25 per cent and the other six
areas at 10 per cent each.
Site visits were used to validate evidence from the self-assessment phase and also understand the “how” of various processes.
