Deputy President William Ruto was trending at number one for the better part of Tuesday morning. Under the tag #RutoMasterofDivision, netizens castigated the man from Sugoi for his alleged ‘Divide and Rule’ tactics.
The attacks come a few days after politicians from Mt Kenya led by Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu accused Ruto of intruding the region.
According to the leaders, the DP is trying so hard to divide Mt. Kenya region something they warned may affect President Uhuru’s legacy.
Jubilee nominated MP Maina Kamanda also accused Ruto of bulldozing his way to have the soccer star Macdonald Mariga nominated to be Jubilee flag bearer in Kibra in a move that will divide Luhya voters in the constituency.
He claimed that Ruto’s intention was to wreck the handshake and as a result reignite hostilities between different communities living in the city.
“The Deputy President is not happy with the peaceful environment that the handshake has brought to this country. He does not care about Nairobi people and how they have fought one another for a long time because he does not have his people in Nairobi. Our DP doesn’t care,” Kamanda said.
“He (Ruto) knows he cannot win that seat but wants to bring a wedge between the President and Raila,” he added
However, a section of netizens believes that Ruto’s strategy is a well-calculated move that will keep him above his competitors.
