3 Shot Dead After Rogue Officer Goes on a Killing Spree

Police in Kilgoris arrested an Anti-Stock theft unit officer over the shooting of three people in Angata Baragoi area in Transmara West, Narok County.

Deputy County Commissioner Hassan Noor who confirmed the incident, stated that the officer whose identity was not revealed, went on a rampage on Sunday evening shooting the victims at random.

Noor further noted that one of the three shot has since been treated and discharged while two others are still receiving treatment at Kilgoris and Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospitals.

A medic at Kilgoris said the patients sustained wounds to the legs and hands but confirmed they were out of danger.

The police boss pointed out that investigations have begun and the officer is set to be arraigned in court.

He urged the local residents to stay calm as investigating officers delve into the matter.

Location chief Paul Ruto remarked the officer was armed with an AK rifle and appeared irritated.

At least five youth in the area were recently shot following an eruption of clashes as the government deployed GSU and ASTU officers to quell the violence.

In 2010, a police officer in Siakago town killed 10 people after a being angry with his girlfriend who he had suspected to be jealous.

The AP officer who was identified as Peter Karanja was arrested over the incident and aided the police in investigations into the mattter.

The two AP officers who were murdered by their colleague, had tried to restrain Karanja before the tragedy struck.
