Kiambu County Governor, Ferdinand Waitutu, together with his Homa Bay counterpart, Cyprian Awiti, have been ranked among the worst-performing governors in the country.
According to the Devolution Assessment study by All Africa Advisors, released at the Intercontinental Hotel on Tuesday morning, Busia’s Sospeter Ojaamong, Lamu’s Fahim Twaha, Amason Kingi of Kilifi, came at positions 45,44 and 43 respectively among the 47 county bosses.
Other governors who featured at the bottom 10 positions include John Nyagarama (Nyamira), Martin Wambora (Embu), Cornel Rasanga (Siaya), Wycliff Wangamati (Bungoma) and Ali Korane of Garissa.
The study also listed the best performing governors with Machakos boss, Alfred Mutua, leading the pack followed with a scorecard of 460.
Mutua was closely followed by Council of Governors Chairman and Kakamega Governor, Wycliffe Oparanya, who scored 440 with Nairobi’s Mike Sonko coming in third with a scorecard of 406 national performance.
Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana was ranked fourth with Mombasa County chief Hassan Ali Joho coming in fifth.
Notably, among the big names missing from the top cream is West Pokot Governor, Professor John Lonyangapuo, who came in a distance 30th.
Lonyangapuo, whose name has recently become the hotcake in most households, has been boasting of great achievements in his county also known as ‘County of Hidden Treasures’.
Tharaka-Nithi’s Muthomi Njuki, Migori’s Okoth Obado, Kisii’s James Ongwae, Joseph Ole Lenku of Kajiado and Paul Chepkwony (Kericho) closed the top 10 best-ranked governors.
