Top journalists on Tuesday came out in support of Citizen Reporter Victor Kinuthia following his embarrassing reporting over the arrest of Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro.
Citizen TV journalist Yvonne Okwara condemned the Kenyans who trolled Victor after he was confused during the coverage of the arrest of the MP.
The tough talking Okwara stated that it was the young reporter’s first time to cover a breaking news and that he should be given time to get better.
“It was his first time. He will get better with time.
“We all start somewhere. We will train him,” remarked the senior journalist.
The former KTN news anchor further criticized a netizen who had posed a question in regards to the preparation done by the inexperienced reporter.
She added that she was proud of how he handle the situation and narrated that Victor was in a tough situation.
How many live links have you done? In a chaotic situation? Police and tear gas in the vicinity? A talk back in your ear with instructions being given as you talk? When you have no script? Victor was in a tough situation and did the best he could. I am proud of him!

Okwara’s sentiments were backed by fellow colleague Francis Gachuri who gave his full support to the Victor and revealed that the young man was not accustomed to informing the public in the English language.
Gachuri pointed out that the full time Inooro TV journalist was courageous to tackle the challenge on a short notice.
“I stand with Victor. For a full time young Inooro TV correspondent to take up the challenge and try out an English live link on prime time TV is courage,” tweeted Gachuri.

Victor who is fluent in the ethnic dialect, also reports for Inooro FM and is usually called upon on Citizen Swahili in the event of a big story happening in Muranga County.
On Monday evening the Inooro reporter left a section of the audience in laughter after he looked confused and unprepared when he reported the arrest of the law maker.
