Having stolen the show in the just-concluded enumeration exercise, Collins Kiprono of the “Mtu wa Census” fame has a rather unsettling plight that you may want to know.
Collins who was unknowingly filmed by his colleagues while dancing with children at the Kericho Rehabilitation School became an instant social media sensation.
The joy he radiated could be seen as he happily jumped up and down with the kids who welcomed the enumerators at the facility.
Collins, an Egerton University finalist, completed his studies in 2017 but has never graduated since he is yet to clear his school fees.
Before he was enlisted to take part in the country-wide enumeration exercise, Collins was digging pit latrines and boreholes with the hope of saving up money to complete his pending arrears.
As a man who was considered to be ‘out there’ in the streets, Collins was tasked with the responsibility of enumerating street kids, homeless people, the sick and those travelling.

As the exercise came to a stop, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) singled Collins out as one person who had particularly been exemplary in his work.
“You showed up put in the work, and put a smile on someone’s face, we celebrate you today. Anyone with information that could help us celebrate this Enumerator Kindly inbox. Thank you!” KNBS tweeted on Saturday.

Kenyans poured their hearts out after KNBS went all out in an attempt to reward Collins for his role in the Census drive.
Please give him permanent job….that would be a good reward.

This guy does a great job. He personally combed the town to ensure some of us who had not been counted are in the stats. I witnessed his efforts to net in all street families in Kericho Town. Reward Kiprono Chokosh.
