Arsenal’s perfect start in the English Premier League was brutally ended when they lost to Liverpool at Anfield last Saturday. The Gunners had started the campaign with 2 wins from 2 against Newcastle and Burnley.

Next up for Unai Emery’s side is a North London derby clash against Tottenham Hotspur at the Emirates Stadium this Sunday. It’s a must-win game for the Gunners and Unai Emery will have to field his strongest available line-up straight from the first whistle.

Below we look at how best the Spaniard could line up for Sunday’s derby…

Defense

Bernd Leno is basically the only player at Arsenal who is assured of a starting spot and should be in goal. At Right back, Ainsley Maitland Niles is the sole player capable of playing in that position for the Gunners due to Hector Bellerin’s Injury.

Nacho Monreal is subject of a move to Real Sociedad but the deal is not yet finalized so should he still be at the club on Sunday, he starts at Left Back.

David Luiz may have made two costly errors on the loss to Liverpool but the Brazilian center back is a fantastic defender and should get the nod in central defense paired with Greek defender Sokratis.

The manager needs to be bold in his selection here and start Lucas Torreira especially after his goal against Liverpool and the one he scored last season against Spurs at home. He is the perfect defensive midfielder for this game.

Ahead of him, Dani Ceballos and Matteo Guendouzi have shown that they are capable of dictating the pace of a game and both need to start against Spurs.

The trio of Torreira, Guedouzi, and Ceballos is more modern, agile and mobile and should be played more often as it represents a different Arsenal, one that does have a slow, porous Granit Xhaka.

In a must-win home game, Unai Emery has to unleash a front 3 that will ask some serious questions of the Spurs backline. Nicholas Pepe showed against Liverpool that he has the ability to be a world-beater and will own Arsenal’s right-wing for years to come.

On the left, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang gets the nod due to his pace and goalscoring prowess. Alexandre Lacazette was left out the starting line up at Anfield but should start in the striker’s position against Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

Arsenal fans have waited for the 3 to start a game and what better place to see them than in a derby?

Starting XI 433: Leno, Maitland-Niles, Monreal, David Luiz, Sokratis, Torreira, Guendouzi, Ceballos, Pepe, Aubameyang, Lacazette.
