Kapseret MP, Oscar Sudi, has revealed fresh details that preceded the March 2018 famous handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM party leader, Raila Odinga.

Speaking on Thursday morning at a local radio station (Emoo FM), Sudi revealed how Odinga called him after the 2017 elections in a bid to reach out to Deputy President William Ruto.

Sudi added that he was the first contact person between Raila and Ruto, where the ODM leader urgently requested to meet the DP to discuss important constitutional reforms.

“I was the first person to be approached by Raila on the handshake talks. He called me after the 2017 elections saying that he wanted to talk to William Ruto. I informed Ruto of Raila’s Call and the DP asked me to interrogate Raila further to know what he wanted from him. At one time, I was forced to give my phone to Raila so that he can talk yo William Ruto.

“After some interrogations, Raila revealed he wanted to talk to Ruto concerning constitutional changes promising to make Ruto a Prime Minister with him being the President in 2022 after successfully changing the constitution something that Ruto flatly turned down” stated Sudi.

He added that after Raila’s approached Ruto, he informed President Uhuru Kenyatta of their discussions with Odinga. The president later invited the former Premier for a talk that led to the 2018 handshake.

The vocal tangatanga-allied MP faulted DP Ruto for being too loyal to his boss something, that came back to haunt him later. He revealed that Ruto declined Raila’s proposal to change the constitution citing lack of time and money to facilitate Raila’s demands.

“Greed is so dangerous. Uhuru accepted Raila’s proposal despite rejections from his deputy. After getting to where he wanted, Uhuru started fighting Ruto with the hope of annoying him so that he can react.  If Uhuru had constitutional powers, he would have already fired Ruto,” claimed Sudi.

He insisted that the alleged friendship between Uhuru and Ruto was totally faked, owing to the fact that the two are currently reading from two different scripts.

Sudi maintained that it would be difficult for the two (Raila and Uhuru) to change the constitution, adding that they were in Jubilee to stay until 2022, despite rumours of disputes.

“It will not be possible to change Katiba in BBI’s favour unless we follow Punguza Mizigo Initiative way. Uhuru will either go with Raila or support us in 2022 not because he loves us, but because he will have no otherwise” added Sudi.
