Question of the legality of Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s honorary doctorate Degree of Excellence conferred to him on Wednesday has been raised by Kenyans on social media.

This comes after the flamboyant county boss took to his social media pages to express his delightedness after the European Digital University recognized his positive contribution to society in an event which took place in Dubai at the University of Dubai.

“I’m delighted to be conferred with an honorary doctorate Degree of Excellence by the European Digital University at the University of Dubai, for my positive role in changing the society. I will also carry on with personal support to the society through the Sonko Rescue Team which has been consistent in it’s charitable work,” Sonko wrote.

However, the news of Sonko’s Doctorate Degree has been received without a lot of criticism from Kenyans on Twitter who majority questioned the eligibility of the honorary while others further insinuated that the governor parted with the cash to be honored.

Some even went on to question the existence of the said University as its website was unavailable.

I DON’T even find a WEBSITE of the said University. Apart from a FACEBOOK page with 367 likes. I must say even the name looks suspicious,” Ben Mwirigi wrote.
