As we have grown and acquired formal education we have overtime learnt much about Nelson Mandela who has remained an Icon years after his death. Through history books, Nobel prizes you name it, you have heard of this great man. Mandela impacted people’s lives in unimaginable ways. He lived his life by 3 principles: free yourself, free others, serve every day.

On 18th July every year, the world honours his efforts by observing the International Mandela Day. It is in his commemoration that now the baton of leadership has been handed over to us. It is in our hands to make a positive difference everywhere we go. The former South African president and Nobel Peace Prize winner, Nelson Mandela, who turned 95 years in 2013 and died in the same year, dedicated 67 years of his life fighting for racial equality and the end of the segregationist regime of apartheid, imposed by the white minority.

It is in that faith that his foundation requested people to be dedicating 67 minutes of their time – one for every year of Mandela’s service, people can give back to the world around them and make a contribution to global humanitarianism.
