The cresent moon of Shawwaal was on Monday night sighted in various Muslim Countries. In Kenya, the moon was sighted in Garissa, Wajir and other parts of the country including Mombasa.
On sighting the moon, Muslims across the world who have been fasting in the holy month of Ramadan are now allowed to break their fast, in a celebration dubbed Eid-Ul-Fitr.

This years fast has been broken on the 30th day of the Ramadan month. Muslims mark the holy Ramadan as per their religious teachings. Fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of the Islamic religion.
Different leaders across the Country flocked the Internet with messages of good will to all Muslims who are celebrating Eid-Ul-Fitr. ODM leader Raila Odinga led other Kenyans in sending goodwill messages to the Muslim Fraternity.
Raila further prayed that all the good deeds of the Muslims during the month of Ramadan be accepted by God.

His party, the ODM party also had a message for Muslims which was accompanied by another message for all Kenyans. The Raila-led Party reminded Kenyans to spread Allah’s teachings and peace around the world.
