Fresh crossover Gospel Artiste Amani has revealed her transitional journey from being a popular secular artiste to being a born again Gospel artiste.

It was a very tough decision that I avoided for a very long time.

For her getting born again was a decision that would affect her personal brand, the one she nurtured to success for all those years. Let’s be honest, everyone knows Amani. Just a listen at ‘badboy’ featuring Nyashinski reminds you of just how big a star she is.

My personal decision would affect my career hence I postponed it for a long time.

She is among the pioneer female artists in the country who took her music to the next level. Her name alone garners so much respect in the music scene.

She opened up that on making the very hard decision, she only informed the important parties in her life who needed to know. She then went back to Bible school to get reacquainted with her Lord and Savior. She did this despite growing up in a Christian household.

When I decided to get born again I had to go back to Bible school to refresh and learn about Jesus.

Yes I grew up in a Church family and my mother is a pastor. I didn’t have that close relationship with God and I had to refresh it and try and reconnect.

During her transitional years, she turned down all the secular gigs offered to her. For two years she focused her energy on her new business and faith.

I started a business as a source of income, as for 2 years I was not performing.

She would turn down performing since she was now born again.

It’s not possible. I’d rather forfeit the entire show. I have to be firm with my decision.

When her old records play, she says its an interesting feeling. She appreciates the feeling and respects the process she had to go through to get to where she is.

I have no regrets!

She understands why she had to go through that as now she connects better with people.

The migration rate in the country towards the Gospel industry has been higher than before. Many speculate it’s because the gospel industry pays better. Gospel Artists have however been surrounded by wild controversy.

Amani is among the recent secular turned gospel artists in the country. Some famous one before her includes Wahu and Size 8, who all admit that it’s not easy but necessary. The opposite migration has also been seen in some gospel artists such as Willy Paul who keeps Kenyans on edge with his antics.
