Working for the media industry in Kenya has its own highs and lows. Many people have this misconception that it is an ‘easy’ task and cannot be any further from the truth. Just like any other career, one will have to study hard to achieve greatness.It is quite rare for radio presenters to venture into Tv hosting as Tv hosting has its own difficulties.
However, in Kenya, we have the daring radio presenters who have tried Tv. Some have quit but others are still in it. Below is a list of those who have ventured in TV hosting lately.
Kalekye Mumo
Kalekye Mumo was a radio presenter at kiss 100 Fm. She was commonly known for her hit show Rush Hour alongside Shaffie Weru in the morning hours.
In January 2017, she joined K24 Tv as a host of a show called Talk Central, where she has been for the past 2 years. The show involved interrogating celebrities across the Nation. She, however, quit K24 this year,2019.
Shaffie Weru
Shaffie Weru aka the Reverend is a renowned Kenyan entertainer, Mc and radio presenter. He hosted the Big Breakfast Show on Kiss 100 Fm alongside Adelle Onyango, a few years back. He also hosted the Rush Hour show alongside Kalekye Mumo before she quit kiss 100.
He now hosts a show at Switch Tv alongside DNG called Happy Hour Show which airs on Friday’s from 8.30pm.ItIt involves interrogating celebrities while also participating in games and at the end of the show the winning team is awarded.
Miss Katiwa
Known as Stella Katiwa, Miss Katiwa is one of the hottest presenters in the country who was born and raised in Kibera. She hosts a radio show called mtaani at Home Boyz Radio which airs on Monday’s through Wednesday from 10 pm up to 12 am.
She is also venturing in TV and hosts a show called Jam Rock which airs on Ntv alongside Kriss Darling. It plays reggae music.
Chipukeezy
Comedian Chipukeezy used to be a co-host on Drive Show alongside Linda Nyangweso. He was in radio for nearly 3 years before quitting in 2017. In 2018 he joined Ebru TV as a host of his show called Chipukeezy Show which airs every Monday at 8 pm.
The show still airs to date. It involves interrogating celebrities and upcoming musicians.
Amina Abdi Rabar
Amina presents a new fresh air of breath in the entertainment and she has a 360 degree understanding of the entertainment industry. She is the new face of entertainment, from working at the Trend, and working for Capital Fm radio to emcing.
