Simple Fit of Anger Lands Wife into Trouble In Husband’s Murder

A woman is regretting her actions and wishing she just had a little self-control after being charged with killing her husband.

The woman, Fiona Akinyi is said to have murdered her husband Mr Zacharia Mwangi when he came home drunk in March.

Mwangi is said to have arrived home in the dead of the night drunk and disorderly and started hurling insults at Akinyi who was sleeping in the house with her child.

After a while, Mwangi is said to have demanded the house be opened so that he could get in but Akinyi refused to open the door.

Angered, Mwangi would lift a huge rock and blast the door open, causing commotion around the rental houses.

An argument ensued when Mwangi had gained forceful entry into his house, resulting in a near fist-fight.

Akinyi drew a kitchen knife and stabbed Mwangi on the thigh before running to her brother-in-law’s house to report the incident.

At her in-law’s, Mr Joseph Njeru, Akinyi would later be accompanied to a [police station to record a statement concerning what had just happened.

“Accompanied by Mwangi’s sister-in-law, I went to Korogocho police station where I reported the matter,” Akinyi testified before Court.

Police arrived at the crime scene moments later only to find Mwangi lying in a pool of blood.

Autopsy analysis indicated that the stab had ripped Mwangi’s femoral artery, thereby causing her death.

Inside the house, police recovered the murder weapon hidden underneath a mattress.

After listening to her account, the judge reduced her murder sentence to manslaughter after concluding that it was never premeditated.
