Was Ruto Attacking Uhuru at the National Prayer Breakfast?

President Uhuru Kenyatta arrives at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi for the 2019 #NationalPrayerBreakfast. With him ...

Uhuru has been on the forefront in fighting corruption and has always defended EACC and DCI in the war.

Deputy President William Ruto’s  moves to disrespect the two institutions for challenging clergy not to receive bribes did not gon down well with Uhuru.

During a prayer breakfast held on Thursday morning at Safari Park Hotel, Ruto claim some of them came from poor background hence value the church compared to Uhuru who was born in riches, annoyed the President.

Ruto also gave the strongest indication yet that he will continue to donate money to the church despite critics claiming that politicians use the clergy to sanitise proceeds of corruption.

“When you see some of us go to church, lift hands, make this contribution it’s because we can’t forget where God brought us from Some of us have more to thank God for, than some of us,” he said

These sentiments did not please his boss forcing Uhuru to make his speech in less than three minutes. Ruto claimed that the war against corruption had been politicized and he had suffered the major victim adding that President Uhuru as well recently became a victim when he was mentioned in fake gold scam

“Exodus 20:16 Do not bear false testimony. Uhuru and I were once victims of false testimony. It took the hand of God and prayer and we don’t want any Kenyan to suffer such again,” he said.

President Kenyatta’s name was recently drawn into the Dubai gold saga which saw Jubilee leaders rush to his defence and pass the buck to Orange Democratic Leader Raila Odinga who had also been adversely mentioned.

Uhuru and his deputy William Ruto have not been in good terms since the 2018 March handshake between Uhuru and opposition leader Raila Odinga. Ruto’s camp felt secluded from the handshake and has ever since launched attacks on the opposition leader.

According to reports from highly placed sources, the fall out started after 2017 elections when President Uhuru Kenyatta got angry with his Deputy William Ruto after millions of money donated for Uhuru’s campaigns by China, Sudan and Uganda, among other friendly countries, went missing.

According to the sources, the Kenyatta family was hungry with Ruto whom they blame for the financial mess at the Jubilee party. The DP was personally in charge of the campaign secretariat and saw the party’s chaotic primaries which were canceled and a repeat ordered.

Analysts warn of a total fall out in the coming months where Ruto is rumoured to be shopping for a new political party ahead of 2022.
