Handsome donations in churches by the Deputy President William Ruto have for some time initiated debates with some questioning his motives behind donations.
Ruto who today attended a Prayer Breakfast presided by the President Uhuru Kenyatta in Safari Park, took the opportunity to explain his motive behind handsome church donations.
The man from Sugoi village said he was grateful to God to have enabled him to reach where he is now given he came from a very poor family where he struggled economically to get through his education.
He went on to reveal that he first wore a pair of shoes in 1981 which he was bought by his father at KSh 60.
“When I went to do my Standard Seven exam, I was barefoot because that was the nature of village life. I first wore shoe in 1981 which my father bought me from Onyango at KSh 60 because he could not afford Bata shoes,” he said.

He said it’s those humble beginnings that propelled him to the level that he is currently where he is seating and dining with the who is who including the son of the founding father, President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“And sometimes when you see us make contributions, lift up our hands and sometimes shed tears, it’s because we cannot forget where we have come from. I beg you to understand some of us have more to thank God for than some of you. Sometimes you judge us so harshly,” he added.
“I have a confession to make. When you see some of us go to church &pray, lift up our hands, sometimes shed tears, make this or that contribution, it is because we cannot forget where God has brought us from. However, this was not well received by a good number of Kenyans who believe that the president was hiding his real intention the explained reason.
Some went on to claim that the DP donated in churches as a way of bribing his voters who attend the holly event.

Ruto is a hypocrite hiding behind the church… using the church as a cover. Kenyans know better to be deceived by wolves in sheepskin… ruthless and heartless people who have no qualms sacrificing the future of millions for their selfishness.

If i stole and am free to enjoy my loot i would have more to thank God too. 😁

Who’s kidding who? How is gratitude to God related to selectively dishing loot to pastors? How does God receive donations given to these corrupt clergy? Mr. Lootoh, we’re woke.

When you give don’t let the left hand know what the right is holding

We also do the same, but whatever we give is not stolen or grabbed from poor people…

The problem is not going to church and praising him and even giving donations but it’s written in the bible you give only one tenth but your boss @WilliamsRuto is giving stolen money and mark you, you can’t bribe Almighty God

Recently, Ruto supported his explanation claiming that he will never stop donating in church;
