It’s 2019, and for many Arsenal fans, they became avid Gunner followers during the Wenger regime.

Indeed, many of them are only familiar with Wenger years and the Invincibles time but have little knowledge of the days past.

Perhaps the diehard fans who started with Arsenal in the early ’90s might know of Herbert Chapman, but what of George Allison?

Nearly every Arsenal fan I came across was dumbfounded when I mentioned this individual, yet claimed so passionately they were diehard fans.

Yet you’d be surprised to know that Allison had a similar record of achievement to Chapman, having won two league titles and one FA cup!

But every diehard Arsenal fan knows that Allison’s critical role at Arsenal goes beyond just bagging the club some silverware.

He was the brains behind Arsenal’s first club programme written around 1910. Additionally, he spent an impressive 3 decades at Arsenal’s mangement before retiring around 1947.

Indeed, Allison was more than just a manager. He was a pioneer of modern-day football. As a matter of fact, he was a world-renown figure that played a pivotal role in voice commentaries on radio. This later bagged him the opportunity to become a journalist in his own right.

Allison first assumed the role of acting manager after the sudden death of Herbert Chapman in 1934. There he managed to steer the then Arsenal team to two league titles and the FA Cup.
