Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen mocked a group of Women Leaders under the umbrella of #TeamKenya allegedly established to preach peace, love, unity and cohesion among the citizens saying that the group should at least involve three jubilee women leaders.

The senator made the remarks shortly after the women leaders led by Gladys Wanga and Nairobi women representative Esther Passaris led a delegation of 17 women leaders to Moi’s home turf  Kabarnet in Baringo county.

Murkomen advised the leaders to involve at least three women from Jubilee side in order to make it look like a real handshake. The team comprised of legislators drawn from the Senate, national and county assemblies, who have rallied under the ‘Team Embrace’ banner.

This was their first ‘Embrace Mashinani’ rally-cum-meet-the-women tour in Baringo and they were hosted by Baringo County Women Representative Gladwell Cheruiyot who was elected on a KANU Party headed by Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.

Conspicuously missing from the function were all women leaders from the Rift Valley elected on a Jubilee ticket. This observation left the vocal senator questioning if the team was really driven by handshake agenda or they were out on their own with a hidden Agenda to target Deputy President William Ruto.

The team who toured Baringo took the opportunity to castigate DP Ruto for his premature campaigns telling him Kenyans are tired of his constant politicking and they want development.

The women, who expressed support for the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition leader Raila Odinga in March last year, said that the pace between the two leaders had allowed peace to prevail.

“We will ensure there is no more bloodshed or violence. We want to embrace peace, and as women, we have decided,” said Likoni MP Mishi Mboko. The group has been viewed by many especially those from Tanga tanga side as an indirect representation of the Kieleweke Team which is actively opposing the Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential ambitions.
