In the past, Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has won the hearts of many Nairobians for his outgoing personality and endless charming contributions towards uplifting the lives of many especially the poor in the city.

The vocal governor has once again hit the headlines after an online leaked audio involving him with Embakasi south member of parliament Julius Musili Mawathe touched the hearts of many.

The governor said he was ready to die to protect the rights of the poor.

Sonko also revealed that on Wednesday while in River Road, he was told not to speak about President Kenyatta and Opposition chief Raila Amollo Odinga.

Sonko said this was because Kenyans are bitter with the government as they are suffering. He added that the people are not happy with the President because of the bad people surrounding him.

Sonko has been highly associated with Deputy President William Ruto’s camp and many cartels who are believed to be from the famous ‘Kieleweke’ camp have been so vocal critisizing the governor.

It reached a point where the governor could not continue and he ended the conversation. Reason? He broke down.

In 2018, Mike Sonko revealed plans by some of the Mt. Kenya MPs meeting at night to plan on how to replace William Ruto in 2o22.  Sonko warned the politicians whom he failed to name against plotting to shortchange the DP.

The flamboyant county chief seems to be positioning himself for a more powerful position. In the past, he has been seen as a possible running mate for both Deputy President William Ruto and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka in the 2022 race.
