Magoha receives state support as Sossion claims are termed false

The roll out of the Competency Based Curriculum has been clouded with a lot of confusion to an extent of taking a political angle.

The Kenya Union of Teachers have from the onset of the roll out faulted the Ministry of Education led by CS George Magoha of imposing the curriculum without prior public participation.

Wilson Sossion,Knut Secretary General, has been on the fore-front to accuse the government of sidelining them in the roll out of the new curriculum.

KNUT has cited numerous gaps in the new curriculum stating that the teachers are not well trained to handle the new curriculum. The funding of the CBC also came up as the main undoing in the roll out.

Wilson Sossion speaking for KNUT asked the teachers to stick to the old Curriculum which is against the state’s directive.

This has caused confusion even among students and parents who are caught up in the wrangles to roll out the new curriculum.

But the government through its spoke’s person has credited the roll out of the new curriculum stating that all the due processes were followed in the process.

Cyrus Oguna, Government Spokesperson stated that the government engaged with all the stakeholders before proposing the roll out.

The Government has since termed the information which is being propagated by KNUT and other people opposed to the CBC as false information.
