Despite a major security operation in Matungu Sub-County following a series of killings that have left 18 people dead in a span of one month, unknown attackers have stabbed to death a 7-year-old Standard One pupil at Bulimbo Star Academy at their home.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i deployed a contingent of General Service Unit (GSU) officers to beef up security and boost the regular police numbers.
The stabbing is suspected to be retaliatory in the ongoing crackdown that has so far sen two most wanted criminals arrested after forensics linked them directly to the killings.
The interior cabinet secretary said the operation will go on until all the suspects are arrested. Citing Mt Elgon, where the government restored sanity after a wave of attacks, the CS said: “Who are these criminals among us? This won’t happen again. We have guns and the police. I have never issued sky promises because the President wants answers.”
