Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has intensified the row into the Matungu killings as he has now declared his intention to sue Interior CS Fred Matiang’i and Inspector General Hillary Mutyambai for unlawful detention.
“How can I be booked on incitement to violence charge in the OB, yet they plan to charge me with murder?,” posed the senator.

The senator’s detention spurred chaos as his supporters on Sunday raided the police station demanding his release.
The staunch supporters went marching to the station at around 5 pm, carrying food which they had prepared for the legislator.
They however, became impatient and started shouting, chanting and dancing at 7.30pm as they demanded the senator’s release.
The senator was arrested at Sovereign Hotel in Kisumu on Friday before being taken to the Nyanza Regional Police Headquarters for questioning over the activities of criminal gangs in Matungu, Kakamega County.
The Matungu criminal gang activities are reported to have claimed about 13 lives, injuring several, torturing residents for months.
