Almost 3 years since lawyer Willy Kimani, his client Josphat Mwenda and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri were abducted and subsequently killed, the murder case still drags on in court. Today, there have been some developments.

The High Court of Kenya has rejected a bond application by the 4 Administrative Police (AP) officers accused of murdering Willy Kimani, his client and taxi driver.

The 4 are Senior Sergeant Fredrick Leliman, Sergeant Leonard Maina Mwangi, Corporal Stephen Chebulet and Constable Silvia Wanjiku Wanjohi.

The court has also allowed the use by the prosecution of a confession by police informer Peter Ngugi Kamau narrating how the murders were carried out. Ngugi, together with the 4 AP officers, are accused of the murder of the human rights lawyer, his client and taxi driver.

Ngugi had, earlier in the year, recanted his statement confessing to the murders and implicating his co-accused, the 4 AP officers.

Kimani, Mwenda and Muiruri were kidnapped when leaving the Mavoko Law Courts on June 23, 2016. They then disappeared until a week later, on July 1st, when their bodies were discovered at Ol Donyo Sabuk river.
