It’s claimed Pep Guardiola’s side could face a ban if they are found guilty of financial irregularities.

City have been under investigation by a regulatory committee over a series of leaks into their financial conduct.

Officials from UEFA’s financial control board are set to submit their findings and will reportedly push for at least a one-year ban.

And while that’s obviously bad news for City, it could work out as a blessing for their Premier League rivals Arsenal and Manchester United.

Arsenal will face Chelsea in the Europa League final on May 29.

A win there will ensure Champions League football for the Gunners for the 201920 season.

UEFA allow up to five English clubs in the Champions League should a team win one of their competitions and finish outside the Premier League top four.

And the Mirror reports that, should City be given a ban, then UEFA may hand their spot to United.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Tottenham made up the Premier League top four alongside champions City and are guaranteed Champions League football.

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to stay positive regardless of what European competition his club are in.

He recently said: “We’ll have to make something positive out of it, no matter what.

“We gave ourselves to hope and belief that we could make it [Champions League qualification] and we have had other results [go for us] but we’ve not been able to capitalise.

“It’s a big blow.

“Of course everyone is disappointed in the dressing room and you could say we lost the opportunity today for Champions League football, but that’s not the case, it’s been all through the season that it’s not been good enough.

“We haven’t been able to turn games to our advantage when we should have done, like today.”
