Why Raila was rudely interrupted by his own people while giving speech

Over a long period of time, people from Luo Nyanza region are known for saying ‘ndio baba’ to whatever ODM leader Raila Odinga puts across. His massive support from his own backyard is rarely compromised.

But his Monday visit to Muhoroni proved the AU envoy wrong! The former prime minister who had paid a visit saw his tour turn chaotic.

The ‘ndio baba’ songs he is used to hearing turned into protests, interrupting his speech.

Kisumu Deputy Governor Mathews Owili and ODM leader Raila Odinga in Muhoroni on Monday, May 13, 2019

Rowdy Muhoroni residents said the state did not consult them about the project.

They also claimed their ancestral land was reverted to the Kisumu Municipal Council after torrential rains pounded the region, flooding the area for months in the early 1980s.

They now want the land reverted and compensated before the project begins.

The protests happened while Raila addressed residents at the opening of Industrial park within the area.
