Did the Kenyan Media lie to Kenyans about President Uhuru Kenyatta’s mission to China during his last Trip?

Well, the President’s trip in the company of Opposition Chief Raila Odinga to China led to widespread speculations among Kenyans and various Political leaders.

There were widespread reports that the duo had gone to source for a second loan meant for the expansion of the SGR to Raila’s Kisumu backyard.

Opposition Chief Raila Odinga was the first to break the news of the trip to Kenyans during a trip to Kisumu. He claimed that he will be part of the delegation that will accompany the President to China to get a loan for the expansion of the SGR.

The duo later came back with no loan even as more speculations grew on the reasons as to why the Chinese Government might have decided not to grant the loan as earlier anticipated.

Statehouse Spokesperson Kanze Dena has now set the record straight. According to her, getting a loan for the SGR was not President Uhuru Kenyatta’s main agenda when he visited China.

She has claimed that the whole SGR Loan narrative was coined by the Media.

“The issue about the China visit and the #SGR loan is still not true. The President’s agenda did not include the SGR loan. The media chose to report on the matter, but we had not given that information” Said Kanze during an interview on Radio Maisha.

President Kenyatta has not been seen in the public after the China trip with Kenyans wondering where the head of State is.

On this, Kanze was quick to point out that the President is around and that the fact he is not seen in the public does not mean he is not around.

“The President is around, it doesn’t mean that because he is not seen in public he is not there, he has an office where he goes every day and he is working on several things” Said Kanze.
