Refusing to forgive, they say, is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die.In one way or the other, everybody has made mistakes to people around them. After the mistake has been done, people seek forgiveness in order for life to move on well.
However, when it comes to forgiving, not all people who forgive that easily. There are some who can hold a grudge for a long period than expected. Here are some of the reasons as to why some people never forgive others easily.
1. You may believe that the person who offended you deserves punishment
There are those who don’t forgive easily as a way of punishing the offender. If the offended decides that the offender cannot get away with what they did, they most likely find it hard to forgive them as they go after doing revenge to the offender.
2. There’s too much anger that causes a lack of self-control
When it comes to reasons as to why one might not forgive that easily, the chances is because he or she is still angry. When one is angry, the possibility of one losing control are always high in that, they don’t even think of forgiving the person that caused them pain.
3. You may be scared to forgive, in fear of getting hurt again
Another common reason as to why people don’t forgive easily is due to the fear of being hurt again. Where they prefer living being bitter than getting hurt for the second time.
So if you’re having a hard time forgiving someone, don’t berate yourself about it. Ask yourself which condition hasn’t been met yet. If you’re missing an apology, still suffering the consequences of the injury, or if the behavior has been repeated, let yourself off the hook. Forgive yourself for not forgiving. Don’t blame the victim.
