A House committee has threatened to take stern action against any governor who will fail to appear before it to answer various audit queries raised by the Auditor General.
The Senate committee on County Public Accounts and Investment (CPAIC) said yesterday that it shall carry on with its sittings in accordance with the notice of appearances published in the media and in line with Article 229(8) of the Constitution.
Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina warned Governors that they will face serious consequences as stipulated by the Parliamentary powers and privilages act as well as the Public Audit Act.
Five governors, who have been lined to appear before the committee next week are James Ongwae (Kisii), Okoth Obado (Migori), Cyprian Awiti (Homa bay), Mwangi Wa Iria (Muranga) and Granton Samboja (Taita Taveta).
