Kiambu Woman Representative Gathoni wa Muchomba has called for the full support of working relationship between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking at Kiriko village in Gatundu North constituency where she donated food items to Karimenu II dam residents, the MP said  Kenyans are tired of political rhetoric and want to see projects implemented.

Muchomba used the opportunity to accuse MPs from Mt Kenya region in the Tanga Tanga movement of betrayal. In what is seen as an attack on William Ruto, Wa Muchomba hit out at the team for ignoring President Uhuru Kenyatta’s call for an end to politicking saying they should instead, focus on development.

“When they were campaigning, they told the people that they will support the President, but now they have turned against him. They are traitors,” she said.

She told Mount Kenya leaders to rally behind Uhuru and support his development agenda. “Those who don’t deliver on all they promised will have no alternative but to go home after their term. Leaders should stop the noise and concentrate on service delivery. Kenyans are tired,” she said.

On 2022 politics, Wamuchomba said anyone seeking to garner votes from the expansive Mt Kenya region and particularly Kiambu county, should first support the current government’s agenda.

Speaking separately, Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, who is rooting for Ruto, challenged his rivals – team Kieleweke – to stop petty attacks on the DP and openly start campaigning for Opposition leader Raila Odinga.

“The President is with us. We love and support him 100 percent. Kieleweke should sell their candidate Raila without hiding,” he said.

Tanga Tanga is composed of MPs backing Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid, while the Kieleweke team is bitterly opposed to the DP’s ambitions and has lately been joined in meetings by MPs allied to Raila.

Uhuru and Raila reached a truce following the disputed 2017 presidential vote, which they publicly cemented with a symbolic handshake. Ruto’s allies have viewed the deal with suspicion.
