National Environment Management Authority has vowed to launch a crackdown on facilities operating in defiance of the authority’s water regulations.
This follows rapid increase of environment degradation especially pollution to water bodies.
According to NEMA all facilities eligible for the Effluent Discharge License must operate under the guidelines and also have their licenses renewed.
Speaking during the launch of the Rapid Results Initiative, NEMA Chairman John Konchellah says a stern action will be taken against those bent on flouting the regulations.
NEMA Head of Legal Stategy Agostino Neto says that the RRI says the inspections will be carried out every week to ensure effective compliance of the regulations.
