Self Proclaimed NRM General Miguna Miguna is the latest person to comment on the appointment of Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore as a member of the National Cancer Institute Board.
Collymore was appointed as a member of the Board by Health CS Sicily Kariuki on Wednesday.
Miguna says he only got the job as a reward for the role he played in the 2017 elections, allowing Jubilee to bunge the polls.
He further says that he CEO of the giant Telco firm is unqualified for the job on all grounds.
“We have millions of Kenyans, including QUALIFIED RETIREES, ready to serve fellow Kenyans for free. Bob Collymore is UNQUALIFIED on all grounds. ” The General said on his Twitter handle.
Miguna further argues that Bob Collymore only got the job on the fact that he has cancer, which is an exhibit of bad governance. He says the Safaricom CEO has zero knowledge on cancer.
The Canadian based lawyer is not the only person who is upset with Bob’s appointment, which comes days after he contemplated stepping down from Safaricom on medical grounds.
Bob revealed last year that he had Leukemia, a type of cancer that starts from the bone marrrow. The disease kept him away from work for more than 9 months last year.
According to its website, the National Cancer Institute is a corporate body established under the Cancer Control Act and serves as the coordinating body for all cancer control activities in Kenya.
The Institute main mandate is to advise the Cabinet Secretary of Health on the overall priorities that should be accorded to cancer prevention and control in Kenya.
The main activities include general oversight, coordination of all activities, advocacy and awareness creation, cancer registration and coordinating cancer research.
