Popularly known as This Is Ess, TV show host Sharon Mundia shocked fans when she stepped out of her comfort zone recently and drove a 35-seater matatu but she was trolled for her poor Kiswahili.

The former Capital FM Lifestyle editor was filming another episode of her morning show ‘Living With Ess’ and took on the challenge to interview her guest of the day, a matatu driver by the name Mose with her steering the bus.

An elated but anxious mother of one sweetly said a prayer and wore her safety belt before driving the empty bus which plies the Kileleshwa route around. During the drive, Sharon takes instructions from the driver on how to drive the big vehicle because she is not conversant with it and interviews the guest.

Mose, the matatu driver who reveals that he has been driving for the last eight years talks about his life, family and the struggles of the matatu business which includes getting up at 4 a.m and getting home at 10 p.m which robs him of time with his family.

As much as many were impressed by Mundia’s driving skills and her beauty, many fans on YouTube where the interview was posted, trolled her for having an accent which made her speak Kiswahili very badly and for exclaiming a lot during the drive.

One person suggested,” You’re beautiful and confident however, drop the accent, try to adjust to whatever environment and the people you interview”.

Another viewer asked, “Why though is she talking as though Swahili is foreign to her? Is it?”
