Kyadondo East Member of parliament Robert Kyagulunyi aka Bobi Wine has entered into an agreement with top opposition future Col Dr. Kizza Besigye to join hands in pushing for the end for the ruling NRM government under President Yoweri Museveni.

The deal which was unveiled to the press today involves the agreement of the two to bury the hatchet and never publicly attack each other again.

The agreement follows a closed-door meeting between Besigye and members of ‘People’s Government’ and Bobi Wine who heads the ‘People’s power’ movement that took place at the latter home in Magere on Monday this week.

The joint statement signed by both opposition figures reads in part,” We agreed and commit ourselves not to engage in conduct which creates disharmony and undue collision amongst the forces of change, and to always act in a manner that reflects togetherness and comradeship”.

The two leaders in recent weeks have not been at the best of terms publicly calling out each other on dissenting views. These disagreed on what methods to be used to take on the RNM regime.

The revelation came four days after Dr. Besigye, in the company of Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and Mukono Municipality MP Betty Nambooze, visited Bobi Wine at his home in Magere in Wakiso District following his release from Luzira prison.

It is also a turn-around in the political disposition of actors in the two camps defined in recent months by rivalry and political saber-rattling, with supporters openly squabbling on social media.

Supporters of Dr. Besigye derided Bobi Wine for operating without a team and structures unlike their doyen whose countrywide support they argued was proven by the votes he garnered in each of the past four elections.
