Uproar in Nakuru as Huduma Agents Demand for Bribes

News just reaching our desk is that Huduma Namba agents in Nakuru County are demanding to be bribed by Wananchi before being registered.

The news has been shared online by activist Shiko Kihika, who said that the agents are demanding from between Ksh50 to Ksh200.

In fact the corruption is so deep, that chiefs, the government officials mandated to oversee the whole process have refused to register families with more than one kid because it is cumbersome and they want to make some cash.

This is the latest setback to befall the controversial NIIMS registration, with less than two weeks before the close of the whole process.

Kenyans are complaining about the long queues being witnessed across the registration center. It seems the government employed few agents or the agents present have not grasped the process.

The deadline for Huduma registration will be on 17th of May though, the government says registration will continue at Chief’s offices. At least 23 million Kenyans have registered

Last week, news broke that a UoN student had hacked the Huduma system and deleted all the files. Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has since denied these claims.

Kenyans still don’t understand why they need to register Huduma Namba. Opinion setters have accused the government failing to give Kenyans enough information.
