Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is a man who has seen it and done it all. Waititu has moved rivers, punched walls, went to Punjab University and is now accused of undertaking National Government functions.
According to audited financial statements for 2017/18, Waititu who was on Thursday grilled by the Senate’s Public Accounts and Investments Committee, allocated money purportedly for State House affairs, retired presidents’ upkeep, South Sudan peace talks and Free Primary Education.
Waititu would later claim that the document presented to the Senate was Foreign to him and that he had never seen it before nor heard of the said expenditures.
Well, Waititu has now got a shoulder on and it is none other than DP William Ruto’s.
Ruto defended Waititu from criticism over unexplained items in the county budget, including supposed spending of more than Sh1 billion on national government functions.
Speaking at a church service in Kiambu, Ruto said Waititu had nothing to do with the functions he was being accused of funding.
“I am surprised that people are asking Waititu to explain his government’s involvement in State House budget, South Sudan peace process funding and perks for retired presidents. Let’s ask Waititu issues about his Kiambu government,” he said.
While Ruto was defending Waititu, the Kieleweke faction is baying for Waititu’s blood claiming the audit report has exposed the grand corruption run by governor Waititu and he should exit office.
Waititu has insisted that the revelations made against him in Senate were all Political Witch hunt being propagated by people angry with him for Joining Team Tanga Tanga.
Meanwhile, office of the Controller of Budget has said that the auditor General Findings on Kiambu County bizzare spending was not featured on the Budget approved.
