Police Brutality: One middle-aged man was brutally attacked by a police officer for reasons unknown.
The incident which occurred in Kitui county, Matinyani ward involved one Police officer who attacked Nzunza with a log of wood breaking his hand and leg
The victim who claimed to know the police officer said that he pleaded with the officer not to kill him
The heartless police officer was beating the victim a few meters away from Matinyani Police station and dragged the victim to the roadside leaving him to die.
Nzunza was saved by a boda boda guy who informed his family. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
However, the family complains that, when they went to report the matter to Matinyany police station where the suspect is based, the officer on duty did not bother to record a statement.
County police commander Lydia Lingami on Sunday said the brutality meted out on Nzunza left him immobilized with a broken left arm and right leg.
“We have launched investigations into the Matinyani assault case. The victim has been issued with a P3 Form. We, however, cannot charge the assailant unless the doctor ascertains the magnitude of the injury. It may take time to get the doctor’s report because the fractures may take time to heal,” Lingami said on the phone.
