Why Arsenal were nervous at the start of Valencia clash

Arsenal overwrote a run of three straight losses with a 3-1 win over Valencia in the UEFA Europa League with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang revealing that the team had some “nervousness” following their poor league form.

Arsenal’s wretched form has seen them slip out of the top four with Champions League qualification via the league route out of their hands. Unai Emery’s men can still secure Champions League football next season by winning the Europa League and they stand a chance of getting into the final after a 3-1 win over Valencia in the first leg at the Emirates stadium.

In an interview with BT Sport, Aubameyang revealed that their recent poor form had an effect on the squad heading into the game, “We started not so good but we had a good reaction and I think today we played very well. We started a bit nervous because we lost the last three games, I think that’s normal. We are human, but after that we had a good reaction.

“We have a lot of quality in this group and we can go to the final. We know the next game will be difficult but if we have the same ingredients there then we will go through”
