DP William Ruto has lately come under heavy scrutiny from a section of politicians from the opposition over the 2022 succession politics. Anything that can be used against him and to tarnish his name in a bid to stop him from the race has continuously been fuelled to work against him.

During the Labour Day celebrations at Uhuru Park on Wednesday, Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny sarcastically praised police for moving in swiftly to arrest the suspects, however, he challenged them to employ the same approach when dealing with leaders suspected to have looted public funds.

Speaking in sheng slang amid applause by youths, Mr Kutuny lamented about the high rate of unemployment among youths, which has left them struggling to feed their families.

“Masikitiko yangu bwana secretary general (Atwoli) ni kua mtu akiiba krati mbili ya mayai anawekwa ndani lakini tajiri akiiba billion saba anawachiliwa kuzungumza jukwani (My problem is that if somebody steals two crates of eggs, he is jailed but when a prominent person steals Sh7 billion he is given a podium to speak),” charged the lawmaker.

According to Eldoret West police boss Zachariah Bittok, the case against the four people accused of stealing eggs from Deputy President William Ruto’s home has been dropped saying the parties involved had agreed to solve the case without involving officers.

The suspects-two men and two women – who were being detained at Turbo Police Station will now walk scot free.

The four suspects, who are workers residing in the homestead of the DP, had earlier denied stealing 10 trays of eggs.

“Though initial investigations revealed that the four workers, who are residents in the homestead were involved in the stealing of the eggs, we have received instructions from above to allow the affected parties to solve the matter outside the court,” said Mr Bittok.
